Antagonists

Characters who oppose protagonists of the Contra series. These characters also play vital roles to Contra series' storyline and some of them may even cause serious problems for protagonists. Some of more popular antagonists make recurring appearances throughout the series. Simple enemy grunts are not considered to be antagonists. A few antagonists may join protagonists to fulfill their own agendas, but due to differences in position and goals, the alliances are often temporary and very fragile.
