The Alien Wars (エイリアン戦争 Eirian Sensō?) (or Alien War) is the name given to an armed conflict between the human race and an alien army known as Red Falcon that took place on planet Earth in 2636 A.D. in retaliation by the latter for their defeats in two previous invasion campaigns.

Overview[]

The event takes place in the year 2636 A.D., when the alien army known as Red Falcon unleashed a massive worldwide attack on planet Earth in retaliation for their defeats during their two previous invasion campaigns from 2633 and 2634. Noteworthy is that this time they deployed their main military forces from the beginning, in contrast to the more stealthy approaches they had taken during their past campaigns, where they instead took over and brainwashed local armies to force them to do their bidding and with this be able to operate undetected for a longer time.

The hostilities carried during the war took a heavy toll on both factions, humans and aliens alike, with human cities devastated and left in ruins, as well as advanced alien military equipment of colossal proportions totally destroyed, not to mention the countless lives lost from both sides.

Veteran Contra commandos, Bill Rizer and Lance Bean, the two heroes that had thwarted the two previous alien invasions, were once again called into action and it was indeed their intervention the key factor that ultimately brought humankind to victory. The steps taken throughout this mission were not that different from those taken during their previous ones: first, they defended areas that had been overrun by the alien forces, then they regained control of facilities that had been taken over by the aliens and which were being used as provisional military bases; next, they neutralized some of their most advanced military equipment, including heavy artillery and a wide assortment of vehicles; and finally, they infiltrated the aliens' own breeding nest and defeated their main leader and commander, Emperor Demon Gava, and with his demise the war soon came to an end.

Peace was not secured at the end of the war, though, as it brought several repercussions afterward, such as yet another invasion attempt six months later by a branch of Red Falcon leaded by an entity known as Black Viper, as well as local armed conflicts between opposing earthling factions with the objective to get their hands on alien cell samples retrieved during the war, with each group wanting to research and apply their technology for their own military purposes, always in search to perpetuate themselves in power.

Nonetheless, it was later revealed that the Red Falcon army's prime directive actually wasn't to invade and conquer the Earth, but instead they were just a defense mechanism left by an advanced tribe of omniscient beings known as the Moirai, who programmed them in order to protect (and retrieve if necessary) one of their most valued artifacts should it be taken from their shrine on Jupiter, the Moirai Relic.

Stealing the relic and bringing it to Earth was part of a meticulous plan devised by the Triumvirate –a group comprised by three old men who had acted as the planet's highest level of the Government for centuries– with the intention of using its power for their own selfish purposes and thus immortalize themselves as supreme beings. Throughout the unfolding of these events, Lance Bean discovered their plan and the Triumvirate had him assassinated, falsely accusing his fellow brother-in-arms Bill Rizer for this act, as well as for a weapons accident that cost the life of 80% of Earth's population. As a result, Bill was sentenced to a 10,000 years confinement in cryogenic stasis.

Lance survived, though, as his body was resurrected by the alien cell, and now under a secret identity, he gathered a new army and declared war against Earth's established Government. Looking themselves being militarily surpassed, the three old men ordered to put Bill out of cryogenic sleep to confront this new threat, with the intention of buying them enough time until they managed to finish researching the relic and unleash its power. However, in the end, the power of the relic resulted to be much greater than they expected, and unable to control it, it was the relic itself which ended up consuming them, leading up to Bill and his bionoid watcher and companion, Lucia, to confront and neutralize this newly awaken entity, and with this finally put an end to the conflict between humans and aliens for good.
